Bridge


Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge is one of Irelands most visited landmarks. Located in Northern Ireland the bridge links the mainland to the tiny island of Carrickarede.


The bridge, now constructed of wire rope, is approximately 20 meters, or 66 feet, long and is 30 meters, about 100 feet, above the ocean rocks below. A fishermans house is located on the island. The are large caves underneath where boat builders worked their trade and served as shelter during stormy weather.


The bridge is open year round and now there is a small fee to cross. A bridge of some sort has been connected to the island for over 350 years and has been upgraded and made safer over the years.
